Czech It Out: ANV Knives
ANV Knives is an up-and-coming production company based out of the Czech Republic. They have been arming their local military with blades for years, and they recently went global. At SHOT Show 2022 I got to speak with their CEO and Lead Designer Ondrej Nemec about ANV and its products. He explained to me his passion for producing and designing knives. ANV is their name but also is their slogan, “Action not words.” They specialize in making self-defense knives but also turned out a few EDC knives that are pretty slick.
The two knives that caught my eye were these two Z100’s. Not only does ANV have a lot of different products to fit almost anyone, they have myriad customization options for each knife. This knife alone can come in two different blade finishes and nine different handle and lock types. ANV made this knife so you can carry it day in and day out and have no idea it is there. The Z100 is a classic drop-point flipper, but is made from Sleipner steel with a 58 HRC. The high quality of the knife was obvious as soon as I took it into my hands. I found it hard to let go of.
One great aspect of ANV knives is the option to have a liner lock or a frame lock. If you don’t know the difference, a frame lock is best described as the lock itself being a piece of the frame, but a liner lock is a metal liner on the inside of the frame that acts as the lock. Personally, I prefer a liner lock. With a liner lock you don’t lose any handle space unlike in a frame lock, and sometimes with a frame lock you can pinch your hand while using the knife.
The length of the blade is a little over 3 inches and it comes in at a weight of a little over 3 ounces. The handle itself can also be customized. ANV gives six different colors to choose from, ranging from orange to black.
This knife was one of ANV’s best sellers for 2020 and now I know why. ANV has a lot of very cool and eye-catching products just like these Z100’s. In my opinion the coolest thing about ANV is if you buy a knife from them, you can customize it and make it your own. Czech it out here!
