Your Dream Hunt Could Be a Movie & Leupold Can Help
Leupold is offering hunters the chance to see what it’s like on the other side of the glass.
Ever watched those hunting shows on TV or streaming and wondered what it took to create a narrative out of the star’s hunt? The answer is both “quite a lot” and “not much, really.” That’s because hunting comes with its own plot attached, a “will he or won’t he” twist in an age-old struggle between Man and Nature. The trick is to film everything, and then carve out everything that isn’t the story.
But it’s also about getting the light, the rhythm, and the timing, and most of us “regular” hunters simply don’t have access to the equipment, the know-how, and the numbers. Leupold does, though, and the company’s offering the chance for you to be your own hunting-story hero. It’s called “Project Hunt,” and it’s been running for a few years now.
Project Hunt 2025 is accepting entries from June 2 through June 22, 2025. Two winners—one from the East and one from the West—will be selected to have their hunt captured by a professional filmmaker and turned into Leupold-produced short films. Winners will also receive a complete Leupold optics kit.
“You plan the trip. You lead the hunt. We’ll send a filmmaker to capture the highs, the lows, and everything in between,” said Tim Lesser, Vice President of Product Development & Marketing at Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “Whether it’s a once-in-a-lifetime tag or a generational hunt on the family farm, we’re after stories that are relentless, real, and unforgettable.”
Entries must be submitted at Leupold.com/ProjectHunt. Applicants will need to detail what they’re hunting, where they’re hunting (East or West), and why their story is unique. A 2-minute video explaining why your submission should be selected is also required to enter. Winners will be announced in early August 2025, and their hunts will be filmed later in the year. Final films will debut on Leupold’s YouTube and social media channels in 2026.
A complete list of contest rules can be found at Leupold.com/ProjectHunt-Official-Rules. Good luck, and we’ll see you in the pictures!
